CIMSA

CIMSA or Center for Indonesian Medical Students' Activities was established on May 6, 2001 in Jakarta. CIMSA is an organization of medical students in Indonesia which is based on activities and has an independent, nationalist, inclusive, non-political and non-partisan nature. CIMSA has six areas of work called the Standing Committee or SCO. The six SCOs are the Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME), Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV&AIDS (SCORA), Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP), Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH), Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) and Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE). CIMSA was founded by six universities, namely Unsyiah, Unand, UI, Unpad, UGM and Unair.

Syiah Kuala University as one of the founding universities of CIMSA Indonesia sent several representatives to Jakarta to take part in the formation of CIMSA Indonesia, namely Yopie Afriandi Habibie, Ikhsan and Mairita Sari. After the establishment of CIMSA Indonesia, the two representatives became the initiators to establish CIMSA FK Unsyiah by forming a team consisting of Yopie Afriandi Habibie, Mairita Sari, Lukman Hakim Harahap, Harry Laksamana, Norman, Syah Indra Husada and Faizal Muslim. This team also received support from Alm. dr. Firdaus Nuzula, dr. Rachmad Suhanda and dr. Rais.

Not long after that, CIMSA FK Unsyiah was successfully formed in an unstable condition and still under the auspices of the BEM FK Unsyiah. This happened because at that time there were not many students who were interested in organizing so that there were very few members of CIMSA FK Unsyiah. On the other hand, it is also influenced by the dualism of membership where many of the CIMSA FK Unsyiah administrators are also administrators of the Unsyiah FK BEM.

In 2001, the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV/AIDS (SCORA) was the first standing committee to be established at CIMSA FK Unsyiah. It was followed by the Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP) in the same year and followed by the Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME) which was established at CIMSA FK Unsyiah in 2002. Initially, the three standing committees were still part of the BEM FK Unsyiah. .

When the early years of CIMSA FK Unsyiah was established, the Dean of FK Unsyiah was very open to the existence of CIMSA FK Unsyiah. Not long after, the relationship between CIMSA FK Unsyiah and the Dean of FK Unsyiah became volatile because the existence of CIMSA FK Unsyiah was considered not to give a different feel from the ISMKI that had been established before. Several administrators of CIMSA FK Unsyiah also struggled to maintain this organization when they wanted to be frozen by the Dean of FK Unsyiah. Finally, the management of CIMSA FK Unsyiah held negotiations with the Dean of FK Unsyiah and said that CIMSA FK Unsyiah had differences with ISMKI, namely an exchange program for students and research exchanges. Because of this, the Dean of FK Unsyiah again considered the existence of CIMSA FK Unsyiah as a student organization that stood in its entirety. Finally, the decision of the Dean of FK Unsyiah gave a glimmer of hope to CIMSA FK Unsyiah to continue to live and be active.

At the May Meeting 2003 which was held in Yogyakarta, CIMSA FK Unsyiah sent several delegates, one of whom was Satria Perwira who was later appointed to be the Local Coordinator (LOCO) of CIMSA FK Unsyiah. After CIMSA FK Unsyiah had LOCO, the three standing committees that previously stood under BEM FK Unsyiah were revoked and fully transferred to LOCO CIMSA FK Unsyiah.

In 2004, the May Meeting was held again in Solo and at this meeting CIMSA FK Unsyiah proposed the formation of three new standing committees locally, namely the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH), Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) and Standing Committee on Professional Exchange. (SCOPE).

CIMSA FK Unsyiah is growing from various aspects, ranging from internal, external, standing committee, finance and administration. This is evident from the various activities held by CIMSA FK Unsyiah, the number of CIMSA FK Unsyiah members is increasing, the achievements obtained by CIMSA FK Unsyiah members and the establishment of cooperation between CIMSA FK Unsyiah and external parties are more and more varied and followed by the increasing number of students participating in the exchange program.

Then based on the Statute of Syiah Kuala University Number 99 of 2016, Syiah Kuala University was shortened to Unsyiah. In connection with the change in the Statute of Syiah Kuala University, as of January 1, 2021 the abbreviation Unsyiah was changed to USK. CIMSA FK Unsyiah also changed its name to CIMSA FK USK in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
