Pediatrics or child health is a medical specialty that deals with infants and children. The word pediatrics is taken from two ancient Greek words, Paidi which means "child" and iatros which means "doctor". Most pediatricians are members of national bodies such as the Indonesian Pediatric Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Canadian Pediatric Society, and others. Abraham Jacobi is the father of pediatrics.
In accordance with the current development of child health science, pediatric studies generally have 3 (three) scopes of study which can be broadly described as follows: Clinical Pediatrics, Preventive Pediatrics, and Social Pediatrics. pediatrics).

Based on the recommendation from the central accreditation team in 2018 the Pediatric Health Specialist Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University that the vision and mission of the study program must be in accordance with the vision and mission of Syiah Kuala University. The current vision and mission of Syiah Kuala University has changed so that the vision and mission of the Child Health Study Program are adjusted according to the university's vision and mission.

Vision
To become a leading Pediatrics Health Study Program at the national and regional level, innovative, excelling in the development of Child Health Sciences and disaster science with noble character in 2027.
Mission
1. Organizing and developing academic and professional education in Child Health Sciences with excellence in Child Health Sciences and disaster sciences with noble character.
2. Conducting innovative basic and applied research in the field of Child Health Sciences with excellence in Child Health Science and disaster science with noble character.
3. Devoting expertise and research in the field of Child Health Sciences for the health of the nation.
4. Organizing good governance of the Child Health Study Program through the development of quality-oriented institutions that are able to compete at the national and regional levels.
Every year, the number of participants who take part in the selection in 2022 for prospective students from the graduation rate for the assessment criteria from year to year has increased the quality of their graduation.
One of the successes of an education system is the result of the Percentage of Grade Point Average (GPA) for the last five years of all PPDS participants in Child Health Sciences GPA 2.7 amounting to >80% for GPA for Bachelor of Medicine. And from the number of PPDS in Child Health Sciences who achieved an Accumulative value (GPA) above 3 as much as >85%.
For the assessment of the accuracy of the study period for the Child Health Sciences program on the timeliness of study completion, the proportion of students completing studies within the study period limit < 10 semesters obtained a KTW 70%, so that the implementation score was 4 and thus in the very good category. And the resolution of the numbers is quite good.
There were no students who dropped out of the Children's Health Sciences education program. All students complete assignments without passing the specified semester limits. Drop out criteria have also been outlined at the beginning of education so that all components prevent drop outs from happening.
Unsyiah University has produced 8 pediatrician graduates where the first taker passing percentage score for CBT is 80% and is rated as a score of 4. In this assessment, the criteria are very good.
