The pharmacology department is one of the preclinical departments that supports the improvement of academic abilities and skills of medical faculty students in terms of drug therapy. The teaching staff of this section are involved in teaching and learning activities in basic pharmacology and pharmacotherapy courses for first year and second year students. Pharmacology practicum is carried out under the coordination of the Biomedical Laboratory. The staff of the pharmacology department come from several different study focuses such as clinical pharmacology, experimental pharmacology with expertise in handling experimental animals and pharmacy. The research areas developed in the pharmacology section are:
1. Exploration of the anticancer and antimicrobial therapeutic properties of medicinal plants
2. Clinical pharmacology, especially cardiovascular pharmacology, geriatric pharmacology, antibiotics, and rational medicine.

1. Community empowerment in healthy food production in Kajhu Village (2019)
2. Health Counseling on the use of drugs during the pandemic in Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar (2020)
3. Health education on the wise use of antibiotics and training in making healthy food in Darul Imarah, Aceh Besar (2021)
