Physiology


The Physiology Section is one of the pre-clinical sections at the Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University. Currently the Physiology section is supported by 10 teaching staff who already have 1 professor. The Physiology Section is actively involved in the educational process, both within the USK Medical Faculty, namely the Doctoral Education S1 Study Program, various Specialist Doctor Education Study Programs such as the Heart and Blood Vessel Specialist Study Program and the Pediatric Specialist Study Program, the Biomedical Science Masters Study Program, the Public Health Master's Degree Study Program, as well as between The faculty at Syiah Kuala University is in the Masters Program in Sports Education, FKIP USK. Physiology teaching staff are also involved as examiners at the USK Faculty of Engineering and between universities, namely the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, University of North Sumatra.

As part of the educational process in the Doctoral Education undergraduate study program, the Physiology Department actively sends student delegations to take part in the Inter Medical School Physiology Quiz (IMSPQ) which is regularly held at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In addition, the Physiology Section is also actively guiding students who will take part in national/regional events such as for RMO (Regional Medical Olympiad) activities in recent years.

In the field of research, the Physiology Section staff actively conducts research together with students, internally, across departments, across faculties and across universities. The research topics covered include the endocrine system and metabolic diseases, the musculoskeletal system, the cardiovascular system, exercise physiology, the immune system, neuroscience, and biomolecular. The Physiology Section staff also has IPR on Sports Injuries, Vasoactive Substances and Blood Pressure Regulation Approaches in the Field of Physiology, Biomolecular and Physical Exercise and Overcoming Metabolic Syndrome with Herbal Plants which is owned by a Professor in the Physiology Section.

As a form of community service, the staff of the Physiology Section routinely play an active role as a Medical Team in the implementation of Social Service which is held annually by the USK Faculty of Medicine throughout the Aceh Province.
