Parasitology


The Parasitology Section is one of the Pre Clinic sections under the Bachelor of Medicine Program, Unversitas Syiah Kuala (FK-USK). The FK-USK Parasitology Section with the support of reliable laboratory facilities and human resources continues to strive to be superior in efforts to prevent and control parasitic and vector-borne diseases in Indonesia, in accordance with one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) goals, namely reducing the burden of infectious diseases, especially malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases. Indonesia as a tropical country is never free from the threat of diseases caused by parasites, especially diseases caused by protozoan infections, helminthiasis, and vector-borne diseases.

The Parasitology Section has 10 lecturers with 5 of them currently continuing their education to the next level, supported by 1 education staff. The application of the Tridharma of Higher Education by the Parasitology Division is mainly implemented by providing innovative and quality parasitology education at the undergraduate level, conducting research by utilizing the latest medical technology that supports the development of quality education and health services, as well as carrying out community service through health counseling activities, research consultations. In addition, the FK-USK Parasitology Division continues to improve the capabilities and careers of educative and non-educational human resources in accordance with their expertise and continues to strive to improve the welfare of all staff equally.
