On Saturday, November 11, 2023, the Master's Program in Tropical Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Syiah Kuala, in collaboration with PT. Prodia Widyahusada Tbk., successfully held a guest lecture titled "Genomics Today." The event was organized to discuss the latest developments in the field of genomics, which are increasingly playing an important role in medicine.
The event began with warm welcomes from Dr. dr. Dedy Syahrizal, M.Kes., and Marissa Arifin, M.Kes., who greeted the participants and introduced the topics to be discussed. Following this, Prof. Gerard Pals, Ph.D., presented an in-depth lecture on "Polygenic Risk Score and GWAS," providing the latest insights into polygenic risk scores and genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
Dr. Trilis Yulianti, M.Kes., also contributed with her presentation on "Translating Polygenic Score Into Daily Practice," which outlined how polygenic scores can be applied in daily clinical practice.
The event was carefully coordinated by Dr. dr. Winda Yulia, M.Biomed., while the discussion and Q&A sessions were moderated by dr. Hendra Kurniawan, M.Sc., Sp.P(K). The event was attended by academics, healthcare professionals, and students who showed great enthusiasm in participating in each session.
