Banda Aceh - Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria gave a scientific oration at the open session of the anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University (FK USK) with the theme The Role of AI in the World of Health. The Role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or artificial intelligence in the World of Health.
“Implementation of AI in the health sector is increasing. "Where Oxford researchers developed AI Virtual Native Enhancement (VNE) technology which can enhance MRI images without contrast, to detect heart muscle injuries without injection," he said in Darussalam, Banda Aceh, Thursday.
In a scientific oration which took place at AAC Dayan Dawood, Darussalam, he explained that this technology could save costs and increase access to MRI scanning in health services.
According to him, with all the sophistication that AI brings, there are also a number of challenges in the health sector, such as the potential for breaches of patient personal data due to unprepared medical infrastructure and governance.
The Deputy Minister of Communication and Information also appreciated the development of FK USK, which is currently one of the best FKs in Indonesia.
USK Chancellor Prof. Marwan said that the USK Faculty of Medicine had opened 16 new study programs and some of them were the first study programs in Sumatra, such as the Plastic Surgery Specialist Study Program, clinical microbiology, Primary Care Family Medicine Specialist (KKLP), and in the near future would open a Specialist Study Program Urological Surgery.
Dean of USK Medical Faculty, Prof. Dr. Maimun Syukri Sp.PD (K) said that USK FK graduates are projected to have enthusiasm as researchers, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and have competence in the field of disaster management which is in line with USK's vision and mission.
